Hi everyone! I'm leaving for Mexico in 5 days and wanted to update you on my progress before I go. I leave early on Monday morning and am scheduled to be in Ometepec, Mexico by Monday night. I am mostly excited and a little nervous to face this new adventure in my life. One thing is sure, I am apprecaitive of all of my friends and family who have stood by me to make this dream a reality. I have been blessed to work in with the high-school ministry at Good Shepherd for the past few years while going to school and learning Spanish and horticulture. Now seems like the time to start the next phase of my life: full immersion in a spanish-speaking town deep in the heart of Mexico. The days I've been able to work on the farm the workers have been making fun of me and how poor my conversational skills are. That is mainly due to the fact that I learned Spanish from a bunch of white people not actual Hispanics, so I hope to come back displaying all I've learned. Thank you very much again for supporting me on my trip and I will be continually posting and checking in. I'll have the internet down there so don't be shy, I'd love to hear from you.
God Bless
Scott Ekstrom
